Grassroots Organizers Pay a Visit to Carolyn Maloney Asking for Congressional Hearings on Discrimination Against Independent Voters

NYC Independence Party organizers from NY CD 14 delivered over 120 signatures from constituents calling on Congress to hold public hearings on the second class citizenship of independent voters to NY Rep. Carolyn Maloney's office yesterday. Independents are not allowed to vote in primaries in New York and other states, a discriminatory practice meant to exclude 40% of the electorate.
